I've been amazed by my little Salamanders again!
We bought these crickets from Donny show and they are small but very jumpy. Been a bit of a nightmare looking after them because you open the top and they jump out and run off. Found loads of escapees running across the carpet, but anyway...
When we first started giving Frida and Tash these crickets they had trouble getting them because they were so jumpy. I was worried they weren't managing to catch them. But recently I'd noticed that the crickets were around much less than before so realised the sals must have discovered a way to catch them.
Then this morning I fed them two crickets and I watched little Frida do her stuff. She stalked them for a bit, then when the time was right she went straight for the back leg! This obviously left the cricket unable to jump so she could get him a lot more easily when she went in for the kill. How clever!
Going to watch again next time I feed them to make sure it wasn't a fluke, but it would be cool to say she has been learning  |
