Posted - 15/08/2009 : 23:03:29 It's advisable to have the set up ready before you get them really (although there will be all the necessary things for sale there too).
Just a secure tank, some eco-earth substrate, a few plant pot hides, logs, plants etc are all they need. The main thing is just to make sure you can keep them cool, so you need to set them up in place where it doesn't get too hot.
There's a care sheet on the care sheets page, which should help you out loads: http://www.theamphibian.co.uk/Fire_salamander_care_sheet.htm |

Posted - 15/08/2009 : 19:23:56 We say Tash is the boy, but for no other reason than he is bigger than Frida
They are both too young to sex at the moment.
We named them after this picture: http://taosartschool.org/frida/images/kahlo1938cr.jpg
(we bought a snake, which we called Munky on the same day too ) |

Posted - 15/08/2009 : 19:11:21 Fire Sals are pretty easy to care for - I would probably say easier than newts, just because they aren't aquatic so you haven't got the hassle of getting the filtration right and changing the water
