Posted - 21/02/2009 : 16:05:12 They were brought in to eradicate a sugar cane pest- hence the name (their real name is the marine toad or Giant toad).
62, 000 captive bred toadlets were realised in Queensland- no wonder they've got problems
That's why Lewy says we should get one- he claims that if we get one then it would ensure that the nasty Australians who work in Walkabout will have one less toad to make handbags out of |

Toads
Can't remember exactly but I think they were introduced to eradicate another non-native pest species but found that a native species was tastier and easier to catch. Then the aussies found that anything trying to eat them got killed by the toxin. Cane toads were taking over the place and breeding like mad.

They are pests in Oz arnt they?
Oh, most definately. She comes from one of the towns where they go out hunting them once a year. Humans thought it would be a good idea to introduce them to eradicate another pest. Trouble is that there is no natural predator there to control the cane toad numbers. |

Posted - 13/02/2009 : 18:31:07 Yeah, sorry Lewy, your pacman would get battered
So if the Pyxie bites the cane toad, they could both die (what a nice topic ). Its a draw then |

Posted - 13/02/2009 : 18:14:58 You see I would say a cane toad- just because they are really toxic and cats, dogs and foxes have fallen after messing with a cane toad.
Not sure though.
Are we agreed that the Pacman would get knocked out early doors then? |
