They are in the family Bombina, which is classified as a toad family, but being small and mainly aquatic their lifestyle leans towards a frog way of life.
Most frog and toads species are mixed up, that's why a lot of herptologists refer to them as Anurans rather than frogs and toads, so they can't get it wrong
Toads are doing well - quite surprised because I thought with frogs being prettier colours they'd win over (even though personally I prefer toads because they are ugly and hardy. )
