Hello, I'm new here.... hope someone can help. I've just spotted tadpoles darting around my toad tank. They're too good at hiding to be caught but I've fished out remaining spawn and put it in another tank. My question is... if and when they hatch, what do I feed them on?
Not much at the moment - but they seem to be laying a little more each day. Not sure if that's normal? We saw them dropping an egg at a time last night - fascinating!!!
Course not - amphibians are fascinating. I sit and watch mine all the time
Not sure if spawning like that is normal for fire-bellies or not, since I've never kept them, but I wouldn't worry about it if your female seems alright. Like I said before raising a lot of spawn is a hard task and there will always be casualties that won't hatch or make it. I think the average expectancy for wild amphibians reaching adulthood is only around 5%. That is why they spawn so many, to give a better odds of some of their offspring making it.
