I'm pleased to say that my problem rather sorted itself. This morning we noticed that most of the little guys had very shortened tails and were keen to get out of the water. They were sitting on the rocks and sticks and looking fidgety. We carefully reduced the water in their nursery and took them back to the stream where we found the frog spawn. Fortunately it was also raining, so ideal for them to start their new free-frog life. We must have released at least 100 healthy little froglets, and it was a lovely feeling. They hopped away looking most excited! Next time I won't collect quite so much frog spawn. We still have a few who were not as forward as the others which we'll release in a few days time. Just thought you might like to know their was a happy ending to this story.

Thought you may enjoy a few pics of some froggy friends who live in a big pond which we visit regularly. I love the little green guy! If anyone knows what species of frogs these are I'd love to know. They're quite a different colour from the ones we raised from tadpoles.
